Duterte promises to hear public complaints 24/7

MANILA: President-elect Rodrigo Duterte who is set to be sworn-in on June 30 said he would set up a 24-hour hotline to receive public complaints against abusive government system and employees.

“I will place around seven or 10 person to man 24 hours a day. Direkta sa akin para mamonitor ko,” ABS-CBN News quoted Duterte as saying in an interview posted on supporter Mocha Uson’s Facebook page on Saturday.

The tough-talking former Davao City mayor also reiterated his call for the reinstatement of death penalty and the establishment of a department for OFWs who strongly supported his bid in the presidency.

Duterte believes peace and order in the Philippines will attract more investors, at the same time, protect Filipinos from criminals.
Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is set to tender full military honors to President Aquino on Monday in gratitude for his full support to the military upgrade and modernization program.

But AFP spokesman Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said the testimonial parade for Aquino will not feature the traditional fly-by air assets.

“The AFP as a whole will render its final tribute to the outgoing President and commander-in-chief this Monday afternoon,” Padilla was quoted as saying in PhilStar.
Padilla said President Aquino himself asked the ceremonies honoring him to be toned down. Duterte earlier criticized the purchase of 12 FA-50 fighter jets, saying the aircraft are mainly used for ceremonies.

“The ceremonies will be the final military parade to honor and pay tribute to the commander-in-chief and is the AFP’s expression of gratitude for the leadership provided by the President to the military’ institution,” the general said.
