New bus route transport Sharjah passengers to Dubai Airport

Sharjah: Passengers heading to Dubai International Airport from Sharjah will be able to commute on a cheaper transport option with the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA Sharjah) announcing a new bus route that will connect the emirate’s Rolla areas with Dubai Airport Terminal 2, serving several bus locations en route.

The 313 route will pass through Al Jubail bus station, King Faisal Street, Al Wahda Road, Stadium metro station, Al Nahda metro station and Dubai Airport Freezone on its way to Terminal 2, Gulf News reported.

The route will be served by 12 trips in each direction daily, three each in the morning, afternoon, and night, starting from 6am to 1am from Dubai side and from 8am to 2.50am from Sharjah side.

The fare from Rolla to Terminal 2 is Dh15, while the trip till Al Nahda metro station will be Dh10.

Meanwhile, Khalid Al Khayal, Director of RTA Sharjah reportedly said the route was designed after conducting a detailed study.

“We conducted a thorough study and we saw a demand for the route. It will serve a lot of people daily who are visiting the airport as well as other adjoining areas,” Al Khayal further said.

The route will have 12 stops heading from Sharjah, including Al Jubail station, Emax on King Faisal Street, three stops on Al Wahda/Ittihad road — Sharjah City Centre, Safeer Mall and Ansar Mall — as well as Al Ahli Club, Stadium metro station, Ministry of Information, Al Nahda metro station and Dubai Airport Freezone, Gulf News reported.

“This route will help save taxi fare for those heading to Dubai Airport Terminal 2, while it will also offer a direct connection to a Dubai Metro station from Sharjah,” Shahid Mushtaq, a regular commuter reportedly said.

Another commuter, Adam Mendoza said: “The taxi fare from Rolla to Terminal 2 is five times more than the bus fair, this will certainly help people like me who can’t afford to pay a huge amount on transport.”
