The Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Follow-up and Control Center, arrested a reckless driver for committing two serious violations that led to confusion of traffic and endangered the safety of drivers.

The report said that the motorist was found tailgating and dangerously overtaking from the shoulder of the road.

Drivers who tailgate or who do not leave a sufficient safety distance behind the front vehicles could be fined 400 dirhams and four black points. Moreover, motorists who overtake from the side of the road could be fined 1000 dirhams and six black points.

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police called on drivers to avoid reckless overtaking from other vehicles, and to ensure that the road is clear in the event of overtaking or changing lane.

Drivers are also warned not to overtake from the road shoulder, as it is designated for emergency cases. They must also keep a sufficient and safe distance, avoid sudden stops without warning, respect traffic rules and driving ethics, and avoid misbehaviors on roads.
