Two overseas FIlipino workers reportedly suffered from bruises or minor injuries after a seven-storey building collapsed in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday.
Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Toots Ople said that the two OFWs have been discharged from Hamad General Hospital.
Ople said that three OFWs are residing in the apartment building but they were at work when the incident happened. The DMW has extended immediate assistance including food and basic necessities to 30 Filipino nationals who also live in an adjoining three-storey building.
The DMW chief said that those affected by the collapsed building are currently residing at Qatar Youth Hostel.
“The MWO is working closely with Philippine Embassy officials, the Doha Office of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (DMW-OWWA) and local authorities,” the DMW said in a statement.
Qatari authorities are still investigating the cause of the collapsed building on Wednesday. Local reports said that at least one person died from the incident while rescuers are looking for survivors.
