Abu Dhabi to launch smart driving system to secure license beginning December

A smarter way to test drivers getting driving licenses in Abu Dhabi will be launched by December. 
 
The ‘Smart Driving Test’ system will use artificial intelligence and technologies to evaluate the performance and either pass or fail a driver taking the test as seen during the World Road Congress 2019 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Center.
 
According to an Abu Dhabi Police official, there will be 18 smart cars that will be rolled out in Abu Dhabi, 10 in Al Ain and 8 in Al Dhafra. 
 
These cars will be installed with nine cameras. Six of it will be placed outside. 
 
One of the three cameras inside the car will capture the face of the driver to check for eye movements. 
 
Also, there are sensors on the body of the car, which will give further data. 
 
With these systems in place, an official from the Abu Dhabi Police said the system will ensure a fair result as the margin of error will be zero. “This system will ensure fair result as margin of error will be zero. There will be total of nine cameras, six of which will be outside. One out of the three cameras inside the car will capture face of the driver. The camera will check for eye movements to know if the driver is looking at the mirror while shifting lanes, etc. There are sensors on the body of the car, which give further data,” said the official as per a report from Khaleej Times.
 
How will the car be monitored? 
 
The car is connected to a control room through GPS.
 
When any of the 21 specified mistakes are committed, the system will deduct marks. 
 
If the driver is doubtful, he/she may review the video the cross-check the accuracy of the system. 
 
There will also be a police officer inside the vehicle during the test, but he will only engage in case of emergency.
