Kobe, Gianna Bryant’s public memorial set on Feb 24

Los Angeles will be holding a public memorial at Staples Center on February 24 for the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant and eight others killed last month in a fatal helicopter crash.
A person close to the Bryant family told CNN about the memorial but the family has yet to formally announce the special event.

Los Angeles officials have yet to confirm the event planned for Bryant.
The numbers 2 and 24 have a symbolism for the Bryant family. 24 was Kobe’s jersey number throughout his basketball career and while Gianna used No.2.

Tributes continued to pour in for Bryant as fans had made the area outside Staples a spontaneous shrine, leaving mountains of flowers along with basketballs, jerseys, stuffed animals and other mementoes.
Two LA Lakers home games are scheduled on February 24 as well.
