Osaka wins first match against Bouzkova at Australian Open

Naomi Osaka is off to a great start to defend her title at the Australian Open, beating Czech Republic’s Marie Bouzkova.
Osaka claimed the victory as the Australian Open began on schedule despite the build-up hit by the haze from the Australian bushfires, as per reports from Agence France-Presse.
Several players were reportedly having breathing issues during last week’s qualifiers, which led to speculations on possible delays for the first season of Tennis majors this year.
However, the opening day saw air quality with a ‘good’ rating coupled with a rain forecast as the full roster of matches for the Australian Open began on schedule beneauth Melbourne Park’s cloudy and cool skies.
Japan’s Osaka won 6-2, -64 within 80 minutes against Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic, breaking a net fitting with one powerful serve during the match.
“It was really tough for me trying to control my nerves. It’s tough to play someone you’ve never played before in the first round of a Grand Slam,” said Osaka.
