UAAP Season 82 high school boys’ basketball tournament continues to see National University (NU)-Nazareth School in a winning streak, beating Adamson University 94-79 on its latest game last Sunday held San Juan’s FilOil Flying V Centre.

This counts as the university’s ninth straight win, but not without struggling during the match at the court.

“Alam namin na lalaban ang Adamson. Pero buti noong fourth, nakuha ng bigs namin ‘yung rhythm nila,” said NU coach Goldwin Monteverde as per a report from ABS-CBN Sports.

NU had a small, three point lead at 69-66 with 8:26 left on the clock. This led the Bullpups to a sudden 12-2 run against Adamson to widen the score gap, with big men Kevin Quiambao, Carl Tamayo and Terrence Fortea scoring huge pointers for the team.

Fortea led the Bullpups’ score finishing with seven three-pointers, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds for a total of 25 points for his team.

Monteverde said that the team trusted Fortea despite his somewhat poor performance during the first round of the tournament averaging 12.57 points, as their trust paid off in the long run: “Si Terrence naman, kahit naging ganoon ‘yung first round, andoon pa rin ‘yung trust namin.”

Tamayo followed with 18 points, 7 rebounds and two blocks with Quiambao a close 16 points with a 7 out of 11 shooting, seven boards, four assists, and two steals. Reyland Torres increased the team’s score with his 15 points, and 8 rebounds.
