20-yr-old Filipina following in the footsteps of Efren “Bata” Reyes

As Efren “Bata” Reyes exits the world of pool, giving his last hurrah at the recent 2019 Southeast Asian Games, a young Filipina pool enthusiast is proving herself in the international arena of billiards.

The 20-years-old Filipina from Zamboanga City, Chezka Centeno, has been up for the challenge to make a name in the world of pool.

Centano began her journey playing billiards at the age of five, she competed in local tournaments, back in her hometown, according to a report by ABS-CBN News.

Her achievements gave her opportunity to compete with other professional pool players.

She won the gold in the women’s 9-ball gold competition during the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore, defeating Rubilen Amit, the first Filipina pool athlete to win a world championship.

Says Armit, “At a young age, she is such a talented pool player. She has achieved so much, but you will notice that she is still shy and very humble.”

“If someone will follow in the footsteps of our greatest pool players, it’s her,” she added.
