Ombudsman to investigate alleged SEA Games corruption

Ombudsman Samuel Martires said he will look into possible graft and corruption in the alleged mishandling of funds in the 30th South East Asian Games.

Martires revealed that he has formed a seven-man panel to probe the corruption issues hounding the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC).

He added that the investigation will not spare House Speaker and PHISGOC Chairman Alan Peter Cayetano.

“Natural hindi tayo pwedeng maging selective. As long as there is an allegation of conspiracy between public and private officials… isama lahat,” he said.

The PHISGOC has been in hot water after Senator Drilon criticized the Php55-million price tag of the SEA Games cauldron, among other allegations of several quarters.
