Pinay sprinter breaks Lydia De Vega 33 year record

Filipina sprinter Kristina Knott broke the 33-year record of legend Lydia de Vega in the women’s 200-meter run at the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Knott made the record-breaking performance during the preliminaries held at the Athletic Stadium.

She clocked 23.07 breaking De Vega’s 23.35 record which the Pinay legend made in 1986.

Knott clocked 23.07 to topple De Vega’s 23.35.

Knott is expected to win additional gold medals for the Philippines which currently leads the regional meet with more than 70 gold medals ahead of Indonesia and Vietnam.

Should she get a 22.80 she would be able to qualify in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
