Philippine Gymnastics Association head Cynthia Carreon believes that world champion Carlos Yulo could’ve won more gold medals had he not been distracted during his match.
Yulo won two gold and five silver medals during the men’s gymnastics exercises held at Rizal Memorial Stadium in the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).
“There are so many things happening. When he’s abroad, he is more focused,” Carreon told Rappler.com.
A lot of people expected Yulo to do a gold sweep of all the exercises in men’s artistic gymnastics. It was however, Yulo’s first time to compete in SEA Games.
“I’m not happy because he should be winning golds. He’s very distracted,” she added.
Yulo went back to Japan to focus on his training for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
“See you all again soon. Thank you so much Philippines,” Yulo wrote on his Twitter account.
