Sports official worries athletes might over-eat as good food is served at New Clark City

Having been classified as Class 1 by the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), the New Clark City Athletics Stadium offers world-class food.

Despite the challenges encountered on the early days of the competition, athletes at the Athletes’ Village in New Clark City were having delicious food.

In a report on the New Strait Times, Datuk Mumtaz Jaafar, the deputy president of the Malaysian Athletics Federation, said that food in the Athletes’ Village is simply too good to resist.

The official said that the kitchen offers a lot of food on the menu and serves six meals a day.

“We arrived three days before athletics start and, after looking at the mess hall, I’m worried that some of my athletes might over-indulge and put on extra weight,” he added.

The kitchen is also open 23 hours a day. Breakfast is being served as early as 5am and last call for supper is at 4am.

“With the athletics venue across the road from the Village, I’m afraid they might have too much time in their hands and the mess hall might become the focal point,” Mumtaz said.

The athletics tournament will be held from Dec. 6 to 10. The games will run until December 11.
