PHISGOC awarded as best SEA Games organizer

The Sports Industry Awards (SPIA) Asia has named the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) as the best organizer of the SEA Games.

SPIA commends Phisgoc’s efforts in staging world-class opening ceremonies and for organizing the record 56 sports comprising 530 events.

SPIA chief executive officer Eric Gottschalk personally handed the award to Phisgoc chairman and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and Phisgoc chief operating officer Ramon Suzara during the conference organized by SPIA Asia in Grand Hyatt Hotel last Tuesday night.

Suzara tressed that the recognition will inspire the Phisgoc workforce to work harder and do better in the remaining days of the biennial meet.

For the fourth time, the Philippines is hosting the 30th edition of SEA Games from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11. It also hosted the 1981, 1991 and 2005 editions.

As of posting time, the Filipino athletes have garnered a total of 104 medals.
