Filipino triathlete John Chicano delivered the first gold medal for the Philippines in the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) held at Subic Bay Bay Boardwalk in Zambales, December 1.
Chicano, a Subic-based triathlete, won in the 1.5-kilometer swim, 40-kilometer bike, and 10-kilometer run with a personal-best time of 1 hour, 53 minutes, and 26 seconds.
He was also the silver medalist in the 2017 SEA Games in Malaysia. He was behind triathlete Nikko Huelgas.
Andrew Kim Remolino, another Philippines’ bet, managed to snatch the silver medal in the same competition with Indonesia coming in third.
Remolino lodged a 1:55:03 clocking.
Kim Mangrobang and Kim Kilgroe competed for the women’s race.
