Schrock leads Azkals’ first win against Malaysia at SEA Games

The Philippine Azkals yesterday won a crucial game against Malaysia, 1-0,in the Southeast Asian Games football.

The men’s football team was hungry for a win after Myanmar defeated them early this week at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Malaysians were good with their offense but Pinoy keeper Anthony Pinthus managed to block their goal attempts.

This is the first time Azkals took on the lead, thanks to Team Captain Stephan Schrockz, who was chosen to be on board on the 72nd minute — which proved to be a good decision for the team.

Shrock’s shot was first blocked by  Malaysian keeper Muhammad Haziq Nadzli. However it bounced off to his  teammate Muhammad Danial Amier Norisham and went straight to the goal.

The Malaysian team tried to make up for the remaining minutes of the game but failed to secure a goal.

Pithus showcased his defensive efforts for Azkals to maintain its lead.

The men’s football team is set to battle it out with Timor Leste at the Binan stadium on December 4.

The country is now on third place in the Group A catergory, Myanmar leads the group, followed by Cambodia.
