Thai football team complains about food rations at SEA Games hotel

After their first day of training was cancelled due to the field’s distance from the hotel, the traffic and the lack of preparations by SEA Games organizers, the Thai football team is facing another struggle – this time, food.

“The 30th SEA Games in the Philippines has found the latest daily issue. The food problem in each meal is usually the same menu, over and over, and drinking water is limited,” FA Thailand said in a Facebook post,

The Prime Minister of Thailand was notified about the situation and vowed to provide more Thai food to their delegates, staff and coaches.

The team also said there were only four bottles of water in the hotel room and definitely not enough for the athletes’ needs.

“The bottles are not enough,” the group said.

Earlier, the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee or PHISGOC apologized following mounting complaints by national teams from Myanmar, Thailand, Timor Leste and Cambodia about the hekter skelter situation.

Teams from Myanmar and Timor Leste have complained about late arrivals of their transport services and being stranded at the airport.

“We sincerely apologize to our athlete guests from Timor-Leste, Myanmar and Cambodia for the inconvenience caused to them by the confusion regarding their transportation and hotel arrangements,” PHISGOC said in a statement.

“While PHISGOC strives to ensure proper coordination of the arrival details, airport welcome and transportation provisions of all international teams to their respective assigned hotels, we acknowledge our shortcomings in this particular incident and vow to do better,” the organization added.
