Filipina gold medalist boxer cries tears of joy in PH homecoming

Filipina boxer Nesthy Petecio is no stranger to homecoming activities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

However this time, the Filipina boxer turned emotional after bringing home the gold medal at the 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing championship in Ulan-Ude, Russia.

Philippine Sports Commission officials welcomed Petecio with congratulatory remarks.

The world featherweight champion could no longer hold back her tears because she was used coming home second place.

Petecio placed second in the 2011, 2013 and 2015 South East Asian Games.

She also won silver at the 2014 World Championships. She was third in the 2012 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships but failed to get a slot at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
