A Filipino mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter hopes to draw support from the Filipino community when he sees action for the second time in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
Chris Corton will be fighting again in the capital after scoring a unanimous win over Hussein Ayad more than a year ago, The National reported.
Corton, who has seven wins and three defeats, is set to take on Zia Mashwan of Pakistan in the undercard of Brave CF 27 at the Mubadala Arena tomorrow, Friday Oct 4.
“I got a lot of support from the Filipino community when I last visited and this time around I would expect more will be behind me during the fight,” Corton said in the report.
The fighter nicknamed “Happy Feet” said fighting for the flag and country gives him extra motivation.
“I’m representing the Philippines and I want to do my best to raise the flag in Abu Dhabi once again. For me, it’s the passion for my work that provides me a living, and above all, representing the country,” he said. (CC)
