WATCH: Pacquiao gets a tour of Dubai’s Smart Police Station

DUBAI: Senator Manny Pacquiao, who was here for a basketball tourney over the weekend, had a chance to visit and see for himself how the city’s Smart Police Station (SPS) operates, having been toured by law enforcement officials in one of the 5 SPS posts.

The SPS, which operates 24/7, is designed to require no human interaction and functions in the same way an automated teller machine does. But instead of an ATM card, a customer needs to put in an Emirates ID card in the device to start the transaction.

Fraud and forgery top the cases solved through the Dubai Smart Police Stations (SPS) which have handled and resolved 41,000 cases since it was established on Nov. 1, 2017.

There are five SPS in place so far with one each in The Palm Jumeirah, Arabian Ranches, Muraqqabat Police Station, La Mer and City Walk.

Officials said eight more SPSs are in the pipeline in time for Expo2020 Dubai.
