Dubai- TUP Greyhawks bagged the Architects Basketball Association (ABA) 2019 InterSchool Championship after overpowering the Mapua Cardinals 64-42 last Thursday night at the Al Ahli Gym.
The TUP squad immediately pounced on a quick headway from the start to control the game – thanks to the efforts of Finals MVP Kcee Cabanero and Season MVP Jay Gonzales who combined for 29 points – whilst never looked back and secure the Greyhawks their first ever Interschool championship.
Mykel Martin paced the runner-up Cardinals with 16 markers.
South triumphed over TIP to the tune of 42-33 to clinch 3rd place.
Mythical team included Byron Lacbayo (SOUTH), Francis Dumadag (SOUTH), Mykel Martin (MAPUA), Tony Vitug (MAPUA) and Nik Pacunayen (TUP).
Meanwhile, Eric Fajut (TUP) was hailed as Best Coach while Jorence Zamora took home the Sportsmanship award.
The tournament format showcased the camaraderie and friendly rivalry of Architects hailing from the different Colleges and Universities from the Philippines.
The rest of the teams that participated included defending champion FEU, Adamson, TIP Metro State U, North, BULSU and newcomer PUP.
The league was officiated by JAZZVILLE led by Roland Crisostomo and official uniforms were provided by AZRAQ Tailoring.
