Filipino boxer Elorde loses to Mexican foe in world title fight

Filipino boxer Juan Miguel Elorde, grandson of the late great Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, faltered in his first world title bib, suffering a fourth-round technical knockout loss to Mexican champion Emmanuel Navarette on Sunday (Manila time) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Navarette stopped the 32-year-old Elorde just 26 seconds into the fourth round en route to retaining his WBO super bantamweight world title belt, a report by boxingscene.com said.

The 24-year-old Navarette proved too much for the Filipino boxer, scoring a knockdown in the third round before delivering the final blows in the fourth.

Navarette improved on his record to 29W-1L 25 knockouts, while Elorde fell to to 28-2, 15 KOs.
