Gilas Pilipinas caps preparation for FIBA World Cup, loses 2nd tune-up game with Adelaide 36ers

Kiefer Ravena’s return to the court didn’t stop the Australians to avenge their first loss as Gilas Pilipinas lost with the Adelaide 36ers on Sunday’s second tune-up game at the Meralco gym.

In a report by GMA News Online, it was Ravena’s first game coming from his 18-month suspension. He scored seven consecutive points to open the second quarter for the team.

But the Australians were already leading by 21 points.

Players Andray Blatche and Paul Lee managed to cut the lead to 80-73 with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. But still, the 36ers managed to win with a final score tally at 85-75.

The game capped their preparation for the FIBA World Cup with a 1-1 split against the Australian team.

But the Australians were determined to avenge their loss in the first tune-up game last Friday, leading by as many as 21 points.

The national team cut the lead to 80-73 with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth behind the combined heroics of Andray Blatche and Paul Lee.

Gilas’s comeback would fall short, however, capping their preparation for the FIBA World Cup with a 1-1 split against the 36ers.
