Cebuano cager fires record-setting 67 points in PBA D-League

Cebu native Eloy Poligrates came up with a historic game when he exploded for 67 points and led Marinerong Pilipino to a 141-97 blowout win over iWalk on Sunday in the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Poligrates, a product of the Southwestern University in Cebu City who once played in the PBA, shot 28-for-45 from the field, including an 11-of-25 from the three-point land to break the previous record for most points in a D-League game of 58 points set by James Martinez in the 2016 Aspirants Cup.

The six-foot Poligrates also had five assists and two rebounds as he helped his team stay unbeaten after five games.

“Nakita namin ‘yung score ni Poli, sabi namin kayang abutan yung record ni James. Binigyan namin siya ng chance na habulin at sobrang ganda ng laro niya. Sobrang ganda ng gising ni Poli,” said coach Yong Garcia in a report by Spin.ph.
