FIBA suspends cager after drug test revealed “pregnancy”

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the world’s basketball governing body, has slapped a two-year suspension against an American cager for falsifying a doping test.

DJ Cooper was asked to submit urine samples as a doping control requirement for his possible inclusion in the Bosnian national team as naturalized play.

Officials, however, were surprised when Cooper tested positive for human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which is produced during pregnancy by the placenta.

It turned out Cooper submitted urine samples allegedly belonging to his pregnant girlfriend.

FIBA then penalized Cooper who won’t be able to play until June 20, 2020.

The five-foot-11 Cooper had stints with PAOK, AEK, Monaco and Panathinaikos. He last saw action with Monaco in 2017-2018 before taking a break from basketball due to “family reasons.”
