Gilas to move plus, prepares for FIBA World cup

Gilas Pilipinas is now setting their way to hit the goal, lining up training sessions and formulating best strategies with best players, in preparation for the upcoming 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Their schedules of training camps and exhibition games are aligned with their pinned and planned calendar, which includes plays in Spain, and tune-up game against an Australian club.

According to ABS-CBN Sports, here’s the Gilas’ calendar for August:

August 4: Gilas to fly in Spain, then trip to Guadalajara (to play Congo and Ivory Coast). Coach Yeng Guiao and the company will join a tournament in Malaga (Spain national team is expected to field an NBA-laden roster).

August 12: Gilas back to Manila.

August 23 and 25: Gilas to play against Australia’s Adelaide 36ers.

August 29: Gilas goes to China for the FIBA World Cup.

August 31: Gilas on Italy in its first game.

Al Panlilio, president of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas- the sport’s national governing body, as cited at ABS-CBN News, the team Gilas is expected to be in full force in all of its plays including the game against 36ers.

“At most, there’ll be four players from the pool that will not be included in the trip to Spain…but once they come back from Spain, the full team should be ready to practice. Of course, we don’t know who the two teams will be in the finals,” Panlilio said.
