DUBAI: Almost 200 cycling enthusiasts joined the recent 1st Showka Night Lights XC Race organized by UAE MTB Jumeirah.

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism gave away over Dh2,200 in cash prizes to the first (Dh1,000); second (Dh750) and third (Dh500) place winners. Stand by for full report.

There were 53 entries in the Men’s Open; 124 in the Men’s Newbies; six in the Women’s Open and three in the Women’s Newbies.

First placer in the Women’s Open was Annemie Du Plessis who clocked 1:26.56; second was Rachel Delaunay with 1:28.23; and third was Rebecca Menke with 1:31.06

In the Women’s Newbies were Annie Austria Olayta of MTB Jumeirah in first place with 2:02.12; Ila Antonio of UAE MTB Jumeirah in second with 2:02.26; and Zen Aida of United Bikers in third with 3:00.00

Winners in the Men’s Newbies were: 1st – Joshua Calingasan-ad from Abu Dhabi MTB at 46.30; 2nd – Marlowe Domingo of MTB Jumeirah-JET-Brgy.4×4 at 47.42; and 3rd – Joshua Carl Parro of Al Ain Folding & MTB at 48.54”

In the Men’s Open Category meantime: 1st placer was Michael Bangs with 1:05.48; second was George Nareklishvili with 1:11.41; and third was Dyon Balding Time:1:14.31

Men’s Open was 1 loop from Showka Bicycles Shop via Long Bridge 25Km. Men’s Newbie was 1 loop from Showka Bicycles via Short bridge 15Km. Ladies Open was 1 loop from Showka Bicycles Shop via Long Bridge 25Km. Ladies Newbie was 1 loop from Showka Bicycles via Short bridge 15Km.
