Pacquiao training more intense in ‘tough’ bout vs. American boxer

Preparations of boxing champ and senator Manny Pacquiao is more intense than ever as he perceives that his coming match with American Keith Thurman would be more challenging than his previous outings, according to a GMA News report.

“Malaking challenge ito sa akin bilang 40 years old na active at 30 years old yung kalaban ko. We have to prove something na kaya pa natin,” he said.

Thurman has 29 wins and 22 knock outs and is 10 years younger than Pacquiao.

Justin Fortune, Pacquiao’s conditioning coach, did not mince words in describing Pacman’s next opponent.

“Keith thurman is better than Broner. He’s better than Matthysse. He’s the best guy we’ve fought in a couple of years. Dangerous guy. If we properly stick to our game plan and execute it properly, we’ll get what we want which is a win. Possibly a knock out,” he said.

Pacquiao will continue to train in Manila as long as the Senate is still in session. He is then expected to fly to Los Angeles where he will continue his preparations for the WBA Welterweight Unification fight on July 20. (Photo: boxingscene.com)
