Marc Bryan Dula of Masville Elementary School-Paranaque and Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh of Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Paranaque, standouts at Philippine Swimming League-Swimming Pinas, delivered gold medals for the powerhouse team from the National Capital Region team in the recently-concluded 2019 Palarong Pambansa held in Davao City.

Dula, a veteran of international competitions, made his presence felt on his first Palarong Pambansa stint by claiming three gold, one silver and one bronze medals in the boys’ elementary division, reported the Manila Times.

A day before the competition, Dula actually had a stiff neck, officials said.

But the 12-year-old pride of Northern Samar was on a mission, nailing gold medals in 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly and 100m backstroke before securing a silver in 4x100m medley relay and a bronze in 100m butterfly.

“May stiff neck talaga siya bago mag-start yung competition pero hindi niya inisip yun dahil gusto talaga niyang maka-gold since first time niya sa Palarong Pambansa. We are all happy na nag-perform siya,” said Marc’s father, Marlon.

Meantime, Mojdeh, a first-year participant in the girls’ secondary division, sizzled with three gold and two silver medals highlighted by two new Philippine junior records.

Mojdeh, the Most Bemedalled Athlete in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa when she was still campaigning in the elementary category, stamped her class in the 200m butterfly event, checking in at two minutes and 22.69 to erase the Philippine junior record of 2:26.13 registered by Regina Maria Paz Castrillo in 2013.
