WATCH: Alvarez vs Jacobs weigh in becomes the main event

(Photo: Sky Sports) Emotions ran high during the weigh-in pre-fight event between Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs for the middleweight world title unification fight in T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs) weighed in 159.5 lbs, Jacobs (35-2, 29 KOs) weighed in 160 lbs.

When they were told to appear back on stage for the traditional faceoff, they immediately put their heads together. Jacobs tried to push Alvarez’s head back, Alvarez shoved him. A brief skirmish ensued.

Both camps were quick to separate them and the crowd largely pro-Alvarez cheered wildly.

The actual fight will be held tomorrow, Cinco de Mayo which is widely celebrated by Mexicans and Americans in the US. The winner will take away the WBA, WBC, IBF, Ring, and linear 160 lbs. titles.

“I see fear, and that was fear right there what he did,” Alvarez said moments later through an interpreter. “For me and my people, my team and for my fans, it’s very important [to win]. This is the challenge we have, but I’m ready for it, and we’re going to win. I hope he tries [to take my belts], but he won’t be able to.”

“Emotions flying high. I ain’t never backed down from a challenge in my life,” Jacobs said. “I’m from Brownsville [in Brooklyn, New York]. I never did, and I never will.

“Listen, this is the opportunity of a lifetime. I feel like I’m the best middleweight in the world, and that (glaring words) right there, he’s gonna get it… Let’s do this Saturday night! Period! Bumping me with that big-ass head, it’s time to put on. I’m gonna talk with my fists [on Saturday].”
