Young Pinoy wins gold medal at 2019 World Cup Gymnastics

Filipino gymnast sensation Carlos Yulo brought pride to the country as he brings home the gold medal for the men’s floor finals of the 2019 World Cup Gymnastics held recently in Melbourne, Australia.

Yulo scored 14.566, beating his close competitor – Japan’s Hibiki Arayashiki, who placed second with 14.500.

Dominic Cunningham of Great Britain and Rayderley Zapata of Spain tied at third place.

The 19-year-old recently made headlines as well when he bagged a bronze medal during 2018’s Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in the Middle East, as per a report from Rappler.

This gold medal finish at the World Cup Gymnastics will give Yulo that much needed boost in his aim to qualify and represent the Philippines for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Another Individual Apparatus World Cup Gymnastics competition is expected to be held in 2020 in Australia to serve as another qualifying event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, and hence will be sure to draw even more world-class athletes to compete for the slots.
