Pinoy mountain bikers join Oman showdown

DUBAI: It was adventure worth the nine hours of travel, including one each at the Oman and Dubai borders.

Forty-four members of the UAE Mountain Biking Team Oman Redbull participated in the “Oman Redbull Titan of the Hill Race 2018” held Nov.22 and 23 at Misfat Al Abriyeen, Al Hamra, with Yvettet Gigante of the team making it 3rd in the Ladies Category; while Nabil Hammoud,  Henzon Isidro  and Reimur Ballera placed 6th, 8th and 9th respectively in the Men’s.

The UAE team left Dubai in the morning of Nov. 22 and arrived at the site 6:30pm, passing through the Al Buraimi exit in Al Ain

Nov.23 was the actual day which started wutg a race test followed by the qualification and final rounds.

“Ang race trails which is just 1.2 km-long ay nakakatakot, bukas sa mga malalalim na bangin na pagkakahulugan at napakarami ding hagdan na dadaanan pababa,” said Frankie Boton, spokesperson of the UAE Mountain Biking.

He said there were more participants this time from their group at 44 from last year’s 13.
