DUBAI: Around 600 Filipino cycling enthusiasts participated in the 2nd Congen’s Cup 2018 Cycling Race held Nov. 2 in what has been the biggest racing event of its kind in the Filipino community in years.
The race, which had 2 main categories – Mountain Bike (MTB) XC and Folding Bike, stretched from the District One Cycling Track to Nas Al Sheba Offroad tracks behind the Nad Al Sheba Palace.
The MTB Bike for both men and women covered one loop on the track plus offroads for a total of 32 kilometers.
The Folding Bike Ladies category covered two loops at the track (19km) while Folding bike Men Category covered three.
The event was made possible through collaboration by the Philippine Consulate General and League of Filipino Gentlemen Dubai with the UAE MTB Jumeirah cycling group, which boasts over 1,000 members. Proceeds of the event will be donated to distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) under the care of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
