After two years of a break in the hardwood, the Filipino Yachtsmen Association Winter Cup Basketball Tournament got some action with its new champ Marine Concept defeating AMSI, 45-24, during their recent do-or-die championship at The English College, Dubai.

Marine Concept executed a robust fight in each quarter against AMSI and hardly kept their composure as they captured every quarter in their favor.

The first salvo was easy scoring for Marine Concept as the gameplay of AMSI didn’t work out that started an 8-point initial advantage for Marine Concept. Jake Del Mundo and Jhea Ebalo unwrapped the curtain by throwing baskets from the three-point territory and forcing teardrops over the weak defense of AMSI, 13-8.

Taking advantage of the unbalance play of AMSI, Marine Concept’s Marlon Ebalo smashed baskets from wide-open field goals, upgrading the favor making 8-6 run, ballooning the lead, 21-11. AMSI’s Charlie Calingacion tried to defend his team through his brave penetration down to the baseline but still his effort fell-off versus the big men of Marine Concept.

Holding the confidence with an 11-point lead, Marine Concept continued their gameplay and effectively kept their lead to end the third quarter, 32-20.

In the final quarter, Marine Concept intensified their fierceness to take home the championship trophy, 45-24.

Meanwhile, Team East beat Team West during their all-star game, 42-40 while the Empire Marine landed on 3rd place as they knocked Skipper Marine, 58-43.
