Trump wears face mask in public for the first time

US President Donald Trump has finally worn a face mask in public for the first time as the country reported another daily recorded for the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

Trump, who repeatedly avoided wearing a face mask even as several White House employees tested positive for the disease, has finally yielded to the pressure and donned one while visiting military veterans at the Walter Reed military hospital in a suburb outside Washington.
As he left the White House, he told the reporters: “I’ve never been against masks, but I do believe they have a time and a place.”

Recent surveys in the US have shown that most Americans are not satisfied with Trump’s response against the pandemic, despite the president claiming that his way of handling the crisis is effective.
As of today, he is behind Democrat Joe Biden in the polls ahead of the presidential election in November.
US posted 66,528 new cases on July 11, bringing the total number to 3,247,782.
