UAE’s 2 million tests in next two months to target public transportation drivers, hospitality, and retail sectors

The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) stated that the upcoming two million tests in the next two months will cover testing for both public and private sectors.

Authorities have specified that those working in public transportation and retail will be among those who will be tested to ensure the safety of the public considering that both UAE citizens and residents frequent these facilities and public spaces.

“The checks will be for workers in the private and government sectors and will cover public transportation drivers, taxi drivers, and workers in the hospitality and retail sectors, in addition to employees of government entities,” said the announcement.

NCEMA furthered that the UAE will continue to protect and safeguard the health of everyone and urges the public to cooperate with the authorities by adhering to the country’s preventive measures and by staying at home whenever possible.

“The Ministry indicated its intention to intensify medical testing for these groups in order to ensure the health and safety of all members of society. The Ministry will also take all necessary measures to isolate and treat any individuals who test positive for COVID-19,” said the announcement from NCEMA.
