Pregnant Pinay from Dubai reaches due date in Manila quarantine facility

A pregnant Filipina from Dubai has been staying in a quarantine facility in Manila for more than a month now, waiting for her COVID-19 test result.
Katherine Bartolome has reached the end of the last trimester of her pregnancy at the hotel facility provided by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and she is wary that she might reach her due date in the facility.
Bartolome is supposed to give birth on June 2, but it may come earlier as per her ob gyne in Dubai.
“Ang sabi sa k’in ng OB ko, due date ko is June 2. But since medyo malaki ‘yong baby ko, medyo mas mapapaaga pa raw ‘yong panganganak ko. Maybe, two weeks early,” Bartolome told GMA News.
She is among the more than 27,000 Filipino migrant workers currently stranded in Manila. Many of them are complaining about delayed test results.
Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. the chief implementer of the government’s COVID-19 response, warned that the estimated 42,000 OFWs set to return home this month until June might overwhelm the country’s isolation facilities.
Malacañang has already ordered an inventory of the OFWs in quarantine to monitor the situation.
