UAE expat loses job over Islamophobic posts

A UAE expat who works at a mining firm at Ras Al Khaimah was sacked from his job after his controversial post that refers to Muslims as spreaders of the coronavirus.
Indian expat Brajkishore Gupta, an employee of Stevin Rock based from Ras Al Khaimah, had been terminated without notice after his posts on Facebook that refer to Indian Muslims as coronavirus spreaders as well as for hailing riots in Delhi as acts of divine justice.
“This isolated incident involving a junior employee was investigated and dealt with immediately resulting in the termination without notice of this person’s employment with Stevin Rock,” said Stevin Rock Business Development and Exploration Manager Jean-François Milian in an email to Gulf News.
India’s Ambassador to the UAE as well as diplomats from other neighbouring GCC countries have warned their fellow countrymen about the repercussions of social media posts that go against the country’s values of religious tolerance and equality.
