Ministries in the UAE may be merged in post-COVID-19 era – Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, has announced that ministries may be merged and government bodies may be changed as the country braces for the post-coronavirus disease (COVID-19) era.

In a report by The National, Sheikh Mohammed said that the country must review the structure as well as the size of the government. This announcement came after the three-day government meeting to create a strategy in the post-crisis era.

He added that the government must be flexible to keep up with the changes and the ‘new normal’ in the nation.

“Anyone who thinks that the world after COVID-19 will be the same as the one before it, is mistaken,” said Sheikh Mohammed.

On March 11, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai had conducted a virtual meeting with relevant authorities to discuss how the UAE can mount a successful comeback from the pandemic—especially in the areas of health, education, the economy, food security, society and governance.

“The goal is to draw up a plan for the UAE after the COVID-19 virus crisis, a plan that will ensure that we are the fastest country in recovery,” he said.
