NBI nabs 25-year-old teacher for posting Php50M reward for President's head

A 25-year-old teacher got himself arrested after a tweet that threated the life of President Rodrigo Duterte with a promise to give a Php50M reward to the person who will do the job.
The Philippines’ National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) tracked Ronnel Andamas through the NBI Dagupan District Office and was arrested without a warrant.
NBI Deputy Field Director Ferdinand Lavin stated that Andamas is set to undergo inquest proceeding for inciting to sedition related to cybercrime, which was the reason why the public school teacher was arrested without a warrant. Andamas was also found in violation of the Code of Conduct for public officials and employees.
“(Maraming) problemang kinakaharap ang ating bansa. Nagdagdag pa ako. Ito po ay aking pinagsisihan,” said Andamas who was on his knees as he asked for the President to pardon him as seen in a video from GMA News.
Andamas stated that he just wanted more followers and retweets but admitted that the way he didn’t was not appropriate especially during these times. He furthered that he did not have Php50M nor did he want President Duterte killed.

Andamas’ father also pleaded to President Duterte and the public to forgive his son: “Patawarin niyo po ang kasalanan na nagawa ng anak ko. Patawarin niyo po ang buong pamilya ko. Parang awa niyo na po.”
