Some Filipinos came under fire on Mother’s Day after images and clips of people violating the social distancing rules amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon in order to buy cake trended.
In a story released by Esquire Philippines, some residents from Metro Manila broke quarantine and flocked Conti’s stores in many areas in order to buy cake for the celebration.

Joey Garcia, CEO of Conti’s, said that they are enforcing safety measures and social distancing in all of their stores.
In a statement, he said: “Rest assured that we have been implementing precautionary measures, such as wearing of masks and physical distancing to name a few, including more stringent sanitation procedures since the beginning of ECQ. We plead to everyone who intend to visit our store to continue helping us in ensuring the safety of everyone. Please know that we are working every day to improve our process, to adjust to this “new normal”.
