32 health workers die of COVID-19 – DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Wednesday that 32 health workers succumbed to COVID-19.
The DOH reported 216 new cases bringing the total number of health workers with COVID-19 to 1,552.
The agency said the figure includes 548 doctors, 571 nurses, 97 nursing assistants, 60 medical technologists, 30 radiologic technologists, 18 respiratory therapists, 17 midwives, 11 pharmacists, and 200 other health facility personnel such as barangay health workers, administrative and utility staff in medical facilities.
Meanwhile, 232 already recovered from the respiratory disease.
The World Health Organization (WHO) previously expressed concern over increasing number of healthcare workers who are sickened with the viral illness in the country, CNN Philippines reported.
WHO said the government must ensure the health and safety of medical workers amid the onslaught of the pandemic.
