The global number of coronavirus cases on Tuesday passed three million-mark according to Johns Hopkins University tally.
There are 3,040,709 confirmed cases recorded worldwide including 210,842 deaths.
The news came as some countries began to ease the lockdown measures that brought many parts of the world on a halt.
Globally 893,872 people recovered from the illness since the virus emerged in Wuhan, China.
Most of the confirmed cases were recorded in Europe with 1,393,779 cases and 126,233 deaths.
United States remains as the country with the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 988,189 cases and 55,673 fatalities.
The number of confirmed cases is likely to be substantially higher as most countries are only conducting limited testing, Reuters reported.
