Dubai Police issued over 52,000 fines for flouting movement restrictions

More than 52,000 fines were issued by Dubai Police against individuals who violated the movement restrictions taken for the implementation of the National Disinfection Program.
The Dubai Police General Command reminds the public to stay indoors and strictly follow precautionary measures taken against COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Dubai Police, a total of 45,654 warnings and 6,424 fines were issued between March 26 to April 16 for flouting precautionary guidelines.
Of the total, around 38,702 fines were issued against individuals who move out of their homes without essential needs or leaving for essential work.
A total of 10,286 fines were given on violators who fail to wear medical masks inside or observe physical distancing.
Meanwhile, 3,696 fines were issued on drivers who exceeded the maximum of three passengers allowed inside the vehicle.
Dubai Police also noted that 58,641 violators were caught by the radar system across the emirate.
The force confirms that violators of the gathering restriction, public or private, will face a Dh10,000 fine for the host and Dh 5,000 for each participant.
Meanwhile, violators of the physical distancing measure will face a Dh1,000 fine, and individuals who do not wear masks in public places will face a Dh1,000 fine.
Lastly, exceeding the maximum number of passengers allowed in a vehicle of three passengers will impose a Dh1,000 fine.
