The Lung Center of the Philippines announced on Monday that it now offers plasma treatment for patients with severe symptoms of COVID-19, reported ABS-CBN.
Dr. Antonio Ramos, head of the Lung Cente’s administrative services, told the report that the hospital started to draw blood from fully recovered patients last week.
“Kakasimula lang ng Lung Center kasi nag-concentrate kami sa testing… We’re very happy that we’re joining this mode of treatment,” Ramos told DZMM.
This will particularly help some 10 patients who are currently confined in the Lung Center and have severe symptoms.
The Lung Center has “more than 50” COVID-19 patients, said the report.
Plasma therapy is believed to expedite the recipient’s recovery as it mops up the virus in the system.
