DOH confirms 152 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country; total now at 3,246

The Department of Health has announced that 152 new coronavirus disease or COVID—19 cases have been recorded in the country bringing the total to 3,246.

This is a jump from the record-low number of cases recorded on Saturday.

The DOH also reported 8 new fatalities bringing the death toll to 152 while 6 patients have recovered from the virus increasing the total number of recoveries to 64.

Health Spokesperson Ma. Rosario Vergeire gave an update on the proposed mass testing for all suspected COVID-19 cases. She says that protocols remain in place on who should be tested.

“We are prioritizing the vulnerable population and those who are severely ill along with frontliners,” Vergeire said.

“If a person who has no symptoms at all goes to our facilities and mixes with people who have symptoms, there is a chance they may be infected,” Vergeire added.

Meanwhile, a team of Chinese medical experts in the country arrived today to assist the government in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They will be providing recommendations and helping us. The itinerary involves their visits to facilities such as RITM, Lung Center of the Philippines to observe how we are diagnosing our cases,” she added.
