Batangas City councilor dies from COVID-19

Local officials from Batangas City confirmed on Sunday that one of their councilors has died due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Batangas City council said Julian Pedro “Nitoy” Pastor passed away on Saturday night after contracting the contagious disease.
Pastor is the second fatality in the area and among ten people who tested positive for the virus.
The patient was brought to a hospital in Metro Manila following the onset of symptoms.
The city council no longer provided additional information on Pastor’s case, but his colleagues are now subjected to home quarantine.
The Department of Health reported that there are 3,094 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country as of Saturday. The death toll is now at 144 with 57 recorded recoveries.
