Duterte blasts Chel Diokno for criticizing gov't response vs COVID-19 pandemic

President Rodrigo Duterte has devoted a chunk of his airtime Friday night to slam human rights lawyer Chel Diokno for criticizing the national government’s response to coronavirus pandemic.
In a televised speech addressing the nation, Duterte criticized the seasoned lawyer for attempting to spread lies and encouraging people to violate the law.
“Alam mo Chel Diokno, kayong opposition na dilaw, wag niyong ipilit ang pagkatao ninyo… Kayo nagpatakbo ng black propaganda kasi malapit na ang eleksyon,” Duterte said.
The President said that Diokno failed to win his 2019 senatorial bid because of his appearance.
“Alam mo Chel Diokno, bilib ako sa tatay mo. Pero noong ikaw nakita ko… Alam mo kung bakit hindi ka nanalo? Kasi ang laki ng ngipin mo,” Duterte said.
“Pag magkita tayo, patalsikin ko isang ngipin mo.”
Diokno on Thursday revealed that the National Bureau of Investigation is also investigating people or netizens on social media over allegedly spreading misinformation online.
Diokno said that he accepted a client to defend himself from the NBI probe. The agency’s cybercrime division admitted that they have issued subpoenas to at least 17 individuals possibly involved in spreading fake news during the COVID-19 crisis.
