Employees in UAE to be screened twice a day

Companies are required to install screening areas at entrance of offices and accommodation to check their staff and individuals who might have symptoms of COVID-19 under the new work distance policy.
Employees will be screened twice daily, in the morning before they leave for office and in the evening when they depart their office or before arriving at their accommodation, Gulf Today reported.
“The resolution number 281 issued by the ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization in Abu Dhabi stated that screening points at entrances of labor accommodations must be provided,” Emirati lawyer Awatif Mohammed Khouri of Al Rowaad Advocates said.
Khouri also said precautionary measures will be taken in transporting workers from and to labor accommodations as part of the efforts to ensure their health and safety amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Workers who are manifesting symptoms of COVID-19 must be sent to hospitals for testing and failing to do so will earn legal action against them, she said.
Number of workers in the vehicle should not exceed 25 percent of the seating capacity to ensure social distancing measures are observed.
Assemblies and other activities held at worker’s accommodation must have a two-meter distance from each other. The two-meter distance is also applied on canteens.
Firms shall reduce the number of workers physically present in the office by 30 percent.
Customers going to the service center is also limited to 30 percent of the seating capacity to guarantee social distancing.
The remote work system applies to all workers whose physical presence in office is not necessary, especially pregnant women, workers aged above 55 years, people of determination, workers with respiratory or chronic diseases, women with grade 9 or below students.
