Vico Sotto calls NBI subpoena ‘extra work, extra hassle’

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Wednesday said he will answer the letter served to him by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for allegedly violating the protocols under Bayanihan Act.
Sotto said in a live interview that the issue will not distract his work as the local chief executive of Pasig City though he admitted that it was an “extra work, extra hassle.”
“Kahit anong distraction ang ibato sa akin ng kung sino man, I’m not pointing fingers at anyone, but no matter what happens, we will focus on the task at hand — defeat COVID-19,” he said.
He earlier hit back at NBI in a tweet saying that he was just giving an opinion and could not be accused of violating the law because he already complied to the orders before it was signed.
“We complied with all directives. Hindi po illegal magbigay ng opinyon. at alam kaya nila na March 24 naging batas ang Bayanihan Act?” he tweeted.
NBI has summoned Sotto to explain his side for disobeying national government policies or directives in imposing quarantine under the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act after allowing tricycle drivers to ply their routes despite a transportation ban during the quarantine.
